About This Role

Advance science by developing a revolutionary single-molecule DNA sequencer for clinical genetic testing. The intern will learn operation, theory, and data analysis of the Roche Nanopore Sequencing platform and help develop advanced analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement experiments on Roche sequencers to test the boundaries of microfluidic devices and reagents
  • Develop and apply advanced statistical models to analyze spatial and temporal variability, system robustness, and signal-to-noise ratios
  • Monitor and diagnose complex interfaces between instrument hardware and biological reagents
  • Collaborate across diverse functional teams (Sensors, Reagents, and Instrumentation) to translate raw data into actionable engineering improvements
  • Visualize and communicate complex data exploration results to stakeholders

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis of data with JMP, Matlab, R
  • Familiarity with computer programming in languages such as Python
  • Familiarity with NGS space
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experimental design experience
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Biochemistry, chemistry, materials discipline, computer science, electrical engineering, biomolecular engineering, chemical engineering, statistics, or a related discipline with a background in molecular biology or biochemistry

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of or experience of causal inference, DOEs, and statistical modeling
  • Understanding of or experience with microfluidics, sequencing methodologies, or other wet laboratory instrumentation
  • Understanding of or experience with high-performance computing environments
