Substitute Instructional Aide, Autism Support and Extensive Support Needs

About This Role

This role involves assisting certificated Special Education Teachers in providing tutoring and support services to students with Autism, PDD, other neurological disorders, or extensive support needs within a classroom setting. The aide will help students acquire learning, behavior, and social skills in alignment with their individualized educational plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certificated Special Education Teacher experienced in Autism, PDD, and other severe neurological disorders.
• Administer tutoring and support services to students in a classroom setting.
• Support students in acquiring learning, behavior, and social skills.
• Assist certificated teacher in the instruction, supervision, and/or care of assigned students in the Special Education program.
• Maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
• Perform a variety of instructional and clerical functions in support of assigned classroom activities and programs.

Requirements

• Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
• Ability to satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirement (48 semester or 60 quarter units of higher education, or pass ESSA exam)

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Some experience in working with special education students and/or children with Autism, PDD or other neurological disorders is desirable.

Nice to Have

• Additional specialized training in child development, education or a related field
• Experience working with special education students
• Experience working with children with Autism, PDD or other neurological disorders
