Student Assistant - Student Success Center Tutor

About This Role

This role is for a Student Assistant Tutor at the Student Success Center of Middle Georgia State University. The tutor will provide academic support to students in various settings and participate in tutor certification training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct academic tutoring in various settings: online, face-to-face, one-on-one, and in groups
• Assist with computer programs and tutorials as needed
• Participate in tutor certification training

Requirements

• Currently enrolled MGA student
• Enrolled in 6 or more semester hours per semester
• GPA of 2.0 or greater
• Completed a FAFSA for the current academic year
• Strong commitment to public service
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member

Qualifications

• Academic tutoring experience is desired, but not essential

Nice to Have

• Academic tutoring experience
• Current GPA of 3.00 or higher
• Ability to tutor Freshman courses including Elementary Statistics, Anatomy and Physiology, Calculus, Principles of Chemistry, Physics, and French
• Ability to tutor Sophomore and higher classified courses including Organic Chemistry, Intermediate Accounting, Business Statistics, Programming, Spanish, Nursing, World Literature, Biology, and Engineering
• Ability to tutor additional subjects as needed with an A or B on transcript
