Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Medical Laboratory Technician program, ensuring compliance with accreditation criteria and fostering collaboration within the college and industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement contemporary curricula for the Medical Laboratory Technician program and future entry-level programs.
- Coordinate all aspects of the medical laboratory technician program, including curriculum and course schedules.
- Assure continued compliance with NAACLS and Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation criteria.
- Maintain professional expertise, credentials, licensing, and engage in continuing professional development.
- Create and maintain advisory committee membership for curriculum collaboration and program evaluation.
- Establish clinical partners and secure sites with experiences aligned to student learning outcomes.
- Make clinical site visits to evaluate adjunct instructors and maintain clinical relationships.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate new programs based on industry demand.
- Teach courses, comprising 50% of the 35-hour work week, once students are enrolled.
- Participate in a reasonable number of Divisional and College activities and committees.
Requirements
- Earned Masters degree from a Nationally recognized accredited institution
- Holds ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist
- 5 years of employment in the Medical Laboratory setting
- 3 years of teaching experience with working knowledge of education methods
- Experience in an administrative role
- Experience with current NAACLS accreditation standards and certification procedures
- Experience with data collection, trending outcomes
- Proficiency with technology & application software
- Commitment to continuous improvement of processes, programs, and services
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours
Qualifications
- Earned Masters degree from a Nationally recognized accredited institution
- 5 years of employment in the Medical Laboratory setting; 3 years of teaching experience; experience in an administrative role
Nice to Have
- Earned Doctorate degree from an accredited Institution in the applicable field of study
- Previous experience in clinical supervision and administrative leadership in an accredited College/University
- Experience with accreditation (writing self-studies, site visits, peer evaluator)
- Experience in the community college setting
Certifications
ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist
