About This Role

Serve as a Stores/Warehouse Associate within the Missouri Department of Corrections, managing various aspects of storage and inventory operations, including receiving, inspecting, ordering, and distributing goods while potentially supervising staff and offenders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee major storekeeping areas like canteen, commissary, clothing, or perishable food storerooms
  • Assist a supply manager in warehouse operations
  • Receive and unpack incoming inventory items, inspecting for quality and quantity
  • Reject shipments not conforming to specifications and certify receipts for vendor payment
  • Label and place inventory items in appropriate storage areas, rotating stock as necessary
  • Order and replenish stock using established specifications, purchasing emergency items when needed
  • Develop storekeeping methods and procedures to ensure efficiency and establish inventory levels
  • Monitor environmental factors like temperature and humidity in storage areas for perishable goods
  • Transfer and sell surplus property, fill requisitions, and prepare items for delivery or shipment
  • Operate cash registers, count money, price items, and maintain records of inventory transactions
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, maintaining clean storage areas
  • Lead and/or supervise staff, offenders, and/or residents in inventory handling tasks

Requirements

  • 1+ year experience as Stores/Warehouse Assistant OR 3+ years experience maintaining inventory items and related records
  • High school diploma or proof of high school equivalency

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or proof of high school equivalency
  • 1+ year experience as a Stores/Warehouse Assistant with Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System OR 3+ years experience maintaining inventory items and related records
