Staff Nurse - Pediatrics/PICU

About This Role

This Staff Nurse position provides comprehensive nursing care to patients and families within a pediatric/PICU setting. The role involves utilizing the nursing process, administering medications, delegating tasks, and acting as a primary nurse and resource.

Responsibilities

• Practice professional nursing and delegate nursing tasks to nursing assistive personnel
• Provide direction to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) as appropriate
• Utilize the nursing process to deliver patient care
• Perform nursing tasks requiring knowledge, judgment, and skill in accordance with departmental scopes of service
• Administer medications, including intradermal local anesthetic for IV placement as appropriate
• Teach LPNs and nursing assistive personnel special tasks of nursing care
• Verify staff competency to perform special tasks of nursing care
• Function as primary nurse/total patient caregiver
• Serve as resource nurse and act as preceptor
• Take charge duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in area of specialty or completion of formal course in area of specialty
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Registered Nurse License (Hawaii)
• Basic Life Support from American Heart Association

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in area of specialty or completion of formal course in area of specialty within established time frame.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with electronic medical records
• Coursework in basic EKG
