Provide comprehensive, patient-family centered nursing care for patients, primarily in Medical-Surgical Oncology, utilizing the nursing process to address health and illness problems. Guide and monitor the work of paraprofessional and other team members.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive patient-family centered care addressing potential and actual health and illness problems for patients and families.
- Exercise initiative and independent professional judgment under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Director.
- Use the nursing process to provide comprehensive patient centered nursing care for assigned patients.
- Guide and monitor work of paraprofessional and other team members.
- Integrate the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the Patients' Bill of Rights, Professional Scope and Standards of Practice and pertinent Specialty Standards into nursing practice.
- Explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
- Prioritize patient care, assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices.
- Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers.
Requirements
- Graduation from accredited School of Nursing
- RN-Registered Nurse of California
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider (Within 6 months of hire)
- 2+ years of acute care clinical experience preferably in Medical-Surgical Oncology unit
- Demonstrated general knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology
- Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations
- Written and verbal communications skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook)
- Ability to work independently as well as be part of the team
- Ability to communicate and engage team members, patients and families in a variety of stressful situations
- Ability to use existing procedures and critical thinking to identify and solve routine or complex problems
- Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI)
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers
Qualifications
- Graduation from accredited School of Nursing, Bachelors preferred
- 2+ years of acute care clinical experience preferably in Medical-Surgical Oncology unit.
