Staff Engineer, Software - Spyce

About This Role

As a Staff Engineer for Infinite Kitchen, you will be the primary technical owner of the Infinite Kitchen software ecosystem, leading discussions, mentoring engineers, and making critical architectural decisions for a category-defining robotics product. The role involves shaping the technical roadmap and ensuring the harmony of industrial automation, robotic planning, and real-time distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end software architecture of the Infinite Kitchen, ensuring seamless integration between Python robotics, PLC firmware, Elixir-based APIs, and Vue.js frontends.
• Lead the design and implementation of new high-priority features, such as multi-tenancy support for B2B clients and complex menu logic.
• Run daily/thrice-weekly standups and review technical specifications and code across the stack, providing feedback.
• Participate in the on-call rotation as a standard responsibility.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers to translate business requirements into technical reality and identify edge cases.
• Mentor engineers by engaging in debugging complex race conditions or integration hurdles to help the team ship products.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software experience
• 2+ years in a leadership or staff-level capacity
• Track record of quickly learning new paradigms and languages
• Experience with physical systems, IoT, or industrial automation
• A pragmatist mindset to balance robust solutions with timely delivery
• Experience making design decisions collaboratively with engineers

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software experience and 2+ years in a leadership or staff-level capacity.
