About This Role

This Senior Licensed Practical Nurse role involves providing comprehensive patient care within various healthcare settings, administering nursing procedures, and ensuring patient safety under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, monitor, and record physiological measurements
  • Provide treatment to patients per organizational protocols
  • Assist providers with patient examinations, therapeutic measures, and procedures
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients and plans of care
  • Identify and provide physical, emotional, and developmental patient needs
  • Provide health education to patients and their families, explaining planned procedures
  • Administer, control, and dispense prescription medication in accordance with organizational policy
  • Notify the appropriate provider promptly of unusual reactions and changes in conditions
  • Perform functions of a Surgical Scheduler as needed and requested
  • Initiate, issue and verify patient referrals and insurance authorization/pre-certifications
  • Safeguard and inventory equipment and supplies
  • Follow Universal Precautions and Infection Control Procedures
  • Establish communication with appropriate sources in response to emergency situations
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, staff trainings, and weekly team huddles
  • Maintain a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment
  • Respect patients by recognizing their rights and maintaining confidentiality
  • Utilize technology, including specialized software, to maximize productivity
  • Develop and maintain electronic files as necessary
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and provide customer service
  • Assist other support staff and collaborate with internal and external parties
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuous learning
  • Act as point of escalation for other clinical and non-clinical team members
  • Train newly hired clinical staff members and provide ongoing guidance to team members
  • Order and maintain inventory for medication stored and administered in the practice

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited licensed practical nurse program
  • Current New York State LPN license
  • Current CPR for HealthCare Workers or BCLS certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree from an accredited licensed practical nurse program
  • Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience preferred.
