About This Role

This role is for a Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow to gain practical experience and supervision to become a licensed, ASHA certified SLP. The fellow will complete all requirements for provisional licensure and provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a minimum of 36 weeks (for full time employment) Clinical Fellowship while being supervised and mentored by a licensed, ASHA certified SLP
  • Complete all requirements for provisional licensure and practice in accordance to state licensure requirements and professional standards
  • Communicate status of Clinical Fellowship and licensure to direct supervisor and Director of Rehab in a timely manner
  • Meet productivity standards for the rehab gym, or as directed by the Director of Rehab/Clinical Operations Area Director
  • Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences and other related meetings
  • Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs
  • Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimen
  • Adapt program and/or plan of care according to individual patient needs
  • Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards
  • Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures
  • Synthesize information and interpret examination findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine predicted level of improvement
  • Design and plan of care, developing appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the patient and caregivers
  • Implement the speech language pathology treatment plan and complete all related documentation and record keeping
  • Coordinate the acquisition of adaptive communication devices and instruct patients in their use
  • Facilitate identification of hearing deficits and appropriately refer for assessment, diagnosis rehabilitation and/or personal amplification
  • Select appropriate activities suited to the individual's physical and mental capacity, intelligence level and interest
  • Instruct patient in the skills and techniques required for participation in therapeutic activities, and evaluate patient progress, attitudes and behavior
  • Perform routine reexamination as needed/required to modify/progress plan of treatment

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders or similar acceptable to ASHA
  • Ability to obtain state licensure, certification, or credentialing as required for practice

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders or similarly titled area consistent and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
