Lead Respiratory Therapist

About This Role

The Lead Respiratory Therapist will assist in the efficient management of respiratory services and provide direct patient care, acting as a back-up for the Vent Manager/District Manager. This role supports the delivery of high-quality respiratory services and contributes to clinical education for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Vent Manager/District Manager in the efficient management of respiratory services in assigned accounts.
• Act as back-up for the Vent Manager/District Manager in their absence.
• Provide direct patient care.
• Assist respiratory staff in identifying and removing barriers to treatment and providing clinical education.
• Assist in the efficient and profitable management of respiratory services and assigned contracts.
• Assist in operationally managing Genesis Respiratory Services and agency personnel within the facility.
• Provide direct clinical support daily and assist respiratory therapy staff with assignments.
• Initiate and maintain communications and collaboration with all care team members.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate care plan interventions with staff.
• Assist with new hire orientation and training.
• Assist the VPM/DM in meeting budget through revenue enhancement and control of expenses.
• Identify opportunities for business growth and provide clinical leadership for professional respiratory practices.
• Assist in preparation of facility/Territory reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Support the delivery of high standards of respiratory services through resource utilization, clinical programs, and staff development.
• Assist VPM/DM with customer service.
• Assist with the clinical management of the respiratory department, including oversight related to case management, quality improvement, care planning, clinical utilization, and patient identification.
• Assist VPM/DM in ensuring practice act compliance.
• Attend facility meetings as requested by VPM/DM and share information.
• Ensure staff participate in orientation and training programs, including compliance courses and policy training, and that documentation is proper.
• Assist VPM/DM to ensure respiratory care is professional and timely according to policy, including rotating on call.

Requirements

• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
• 3 years direct patient care experience
• 1 year of management experience in a respiratory setting or as a point person under VPM/DM supervision
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Thorough knowledge of Respiratory Therapy procedures

Qualifications

• 3+ years direct patient care experience, plus 1 year management experience in a respiratory setting or as a point person.
