Respiratory Therapist

About This Role

Perform respiratory care procedures, assess resident conditions, administer prescribed therapy, and manage life support systems to improve residents' lives.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care related procedures under general supervision and medical direction
• Assess resident's condition, administer prescribed therapy and aerosolized medications
• Observe and record resident's progress and response to therapy modalities, including adverse reactions
• Provide in-service training to residents, family members, and facility staff
• Initiate, monitor and maintain life support systems for residents in the skilled nursing facility
• Perform airway care and maintenance
• Manage artificial ventilator status as directed by an approved protocol
• Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators
• Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures of bag ventilation and closed chest massage
• Initiate, monitor and document performance of various respiratory care modalities

Requirements

• Completion of a NBRC approved and accredited program
• 1 year of clinical practice experience under medical direction
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
• Current State Licensure for a Respiratory Care Practitioner
