Sourcing Manager I (General Merch)

About This Role

Manage and lead agent merchandising teams, collaborating with stakeholders to execute product development and sourcing initiatives from concept to shelf, ultimately enhancing the customer shopping experience for H-E-B's General Merchandising Sourcing Group.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead agent merchandising teams, ensuring proper execution through communicating objectives, selecting suppliers, managing import processes, timelines, GSS training, and product selection/details
• Collaborate with various departments (Supply Chain, Procurement, Own Brand, QA) to ensure timely execution of sourcing initiatives
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) between internal/external stakeholders in areas like raw materials, currency valuation, and global impacts in sourced countries
• Collaborate with Business Development Managers (BDM) and Product Development & Design (PD&D) to identify gaps in Own Brand assortment and business opportunities
• Identify and vet suppliers, factories, and sourcing options based on objectives
• Lead planning of all international sourcing trips to achieve objectives
• Collaborate with BDM, PD&D, suppliers, and agents to improve product costs, packaging updates, and terms to enhance profits
• Manage sample requests and tracking for BDM review/finalization
• Manage sourcing timelines and communicate shifts based on global/logistic impacts
• Ensure appropriate information is maintained in product systems (GSS, OBPS)
• Apply understanding of the global landscape, create plans to accommodate industry and product shifts, and execute sourcing accordingly
• Manage international and Own Brand supplier relationships, communication, process, systems requirements, onboarding, and compliance
• Collaborate with H-E-B Customs and suppliers to ensure compliance with all CPB and US requirements
• Educate new vendors on H-E-B requirements including NDAs, new vendor packets, new item setup, MTM, DCM, CMs, AP/AR portal, GSS, and OBPS
• Collaborate with BDM, PD&D, and Planner on strategic roadmap and align with global logistics on shipping/port strategies
• Lead/oversee Own Brand opportunity pipeline planning and financials
• Lead sourcing and brand strategy sessions to ensure successful product development and execution at shelf
• Collaborate on merchandising strategies and financials to meet business objectives
• Create multi-country plans based on strategic objectives
• Source according to BDM strategic and financial objectives, deliver initial assortment, and manage cost negotiations
• Collaborate with Buyers, PD&D, and QA to drive significant revenue, share, and margin growth through new Own Brand product development
• Own supplier matrix determination and rationalization

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in sourcing, product development/management, or buying
• Strong working knowledge of international sourcing process and financials, costing, and raw materials
• Working knowledge of MS Office and database query tools
• Strong understanding of global dynamics (currency fluctuation, tariff changes, country dynamics, cultural differences, business-related legislation)
• Strong communication skills

Qualifications

• A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
• 2+ years of experience in sourcing, product development/management, or buying
