This Software Engineer 1 role supports the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software solutions within the IT organization, focusing on building foundational knowledge under the guidance of experienced team members. The engineer will contribute to the creation and deployment of software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Translate high-level business requirements into clear and detailed technical specifications under guidance
- Assist in the design, development, testing, and support of enterprise software solutions
- Create and contribute to technical specification documents, ensuring alignment with functional requirements
- Conduct research on technical solutions for assigned tasks and provide suggestions to the team
- Troubleshoot basic data issues using SQL queries and perform detailed analyses to identify root causes
- Participate in application development processes, gaining exposure to best practices and methodologies
- Maintain existing systems by implementing minor enhancements and providing support for routine updates
- Communicate with customers to keep them informed about resolutions to their technical problems as needed
- Provide production support, including addressing operational issues and escalating complex problems
- Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation
Requirements
- 4+ years of progressive experience as a software engineer
- Hands-on experience with C#
- Hands-on experience with ASP.NET
- Hands-on experience with .NET
- Hands-on experience with HTML
- Hands-on experience with CSS
- Hands-on experience with JavaScript
- Hands-on experience with SQL
- Experience developing applications using modern SPA frameworks (preferably React, Angular/Vue acceptable)
- Intermediate SQL skills and familiarity with Microsoft SQL Management Studio or similar tool
- Sound knowledge of software development fundamentals and principles
- Demonstrated ability to use AI-assisted engineering tools effectively as part of day-to-day development work
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (degree is in IT, computer science, software engineering, or related field is preferred)
- 4+ years of progressive experience as a software engineer
