Social Studies Teacher

About This Role

This role involves instructing students in social studies, including historical themes, geographical concepts and locations, while supporting the district's mission and maintaining a positive learning environment. The teacher will design engaging learning experiences, assess student progress, and collaborate with school personnel to improve curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in social studies skills such as historical themes, dates, events, geographical concepts, and locations
• Support and uphold the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One
• Interact, communicate, and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders
• Establish a safe, supportive, positive, and productive working and learning environment
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all employee and student information
• Participate in all professional meetings and training sessions as required
• Supervise students in classroom activities and other assigned areas, maintaining positive behavior support and classroom management systems
• Teach concepts and skills in history, geography, and psychology that align to state and national standards
• Design and facilitate engaging, high-level learning experiences appropriate for 21st-century global society
• Demonstrate and evaluate the effectiveness of formative and summative assessments, developing instructional strategies to close learning gaps

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social studies, history, or related discipline
• Valid SC Teaching License
• Current government issued identification
• Knowledge of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, electronic file management, internet, reporting and presentation software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social studies, history, or related discipline with previous student teaching experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
