Social Studies Teacher

About This Role

Plan, organize, and execute an appropriate instructional program for students in social studies to develop and fulfill their academic potential while managing the classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in social studies
• Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area(s) in accordance with school standards, curriculum, and student needs
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning
• Utilize varied teaching practices and methodologies to meet diverse student needs
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Conduct tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures and maintaining discipline
• Encourage and monitor individual student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
• Prepare required reports on students and activities
• Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments
• Take daily attendance
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral forms
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to use effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to use computer including software, database, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone
• Ability to analyze data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Entry level position
