Service Writer

About This Role

This Service Writer role within the Fleet Maintenance Team involves scheduling work, interacting with drivers and vendors, consulting on repair assignments, and managing repair orders to ensure a profitable department and high customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Operate within goals set by the Director of Fleet Maintenance, working with leadership to grow the department and maintain profitability.
• Schedule work into the shop via telephone and direct contact with drivers and Operations.
• Record the condition of equipment and complete write-ups indicating needed work based on initial intake and evaluation.
• Interact with drivers, fleet operations, and vendors daily, including setting up work and handling issues.
• Consult with shop leads regarding proper assignment of repair orders based on qualifications, training, and ability.
• Make recommendations and provide input to Director of Fleet Maintenance and/or shift leads regarding open work orders and completion goals.
• Focus on fleet operations expectations, predicting and preventing problems to improve customer satisfaction.
• Review parts ordered and schedule trucks for installation as needed.
• Review and close repair orders daily.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with all other managers and departments.
• Participate in training as directed by the Director of Fleet Maintenance.
