This Service Advisor role involves selling and scheduling service work for commercial trucks and equipment, ensuring customer satisfaction by accurately documenting needs, providing diagnostics, and managing the repair process from initial contact to completion.
Responsibilities
- Gather customer complaint details and expectations
- Perform vehicle walk-around inspection and verify vehicle information
- Connect to J-Pro and perform on the spot vehicle diagnostics
- Print diagnostic reports and refer to service history, recommending additional needed service
- Advise customers on vehicle care and the value of maintaining vehicles per manufacturer’s specifications
- Write up customer’s vehicle problems accurately and clearly on a service input card
- Establish “promised time” based on shop workflow and communicate with foreman
- Establish customer’s method of payment and obtain credit approval if necessary
- Create repair order in the business system and secure service input card with customer signatures
- Check on repair progress and contact customers regarding changes in estimate or promised time, explaining costs and gaining authorization
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One year service experience or equivalent
- Appropriate manufacturer training
- Valid CDL license
- Driving record that will allow insurability by the company’s carrier
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1+ year service experience or equivalent experience/education
