About This Role

As a Senior Space System Expert, you will provide expert insight and knowledge on the design and development of entire space systems and their subcomponents. This role supports the U.S. Space Force (USSF) and its mission partners in developing, advancing, and sustaining weapon systems essential to national security.

Responsibilities

  • Provide space system engineering, operations, and technical advice for projects and programs, supporting program acquisition efforts for advanced technology, future concept development, and integration activities.
  • Support the revision or drafting of JCIDS and acquisition documentation such as Initial Capability Documents, Analysis of Alternatives, Concept of Operations, Technical/Systems Requirement Documents, Technical Evaluations, and System Specifications.
  • Offer inputs and support on technical and/or programmatic status reporting of individual projects, programs, or portfolios.
  • Identify areas of improvement with actionable, feasible recommendations and tasks for reducing risk, also supporting risk identification, process definition, and detailed technical risk mitigation plans.
  • Maintain awareness of current program schedules, monitor acquisition implementation, report requirement shortfalls, and provide program assessments based on identified risks.
  • Advise the Government program manager on technical engagements such as technical interchange meetings, design reviews, program conferences, and other informational meetings.
  • Maintain a broad awareness and understanding of all programs and technology development efforts in execution across the applicable portfolio, assisting integrated product teams and working groups.
  • Provide technical and operational insight to support mission protection, operations, and mission data assessments, recommending viable solutions for technical anomalies.
  • Supply engineering and technical expertise to support ongoing and new/advanced Command and Control (C2) efforts, integrating those efforts into the classified portfolio.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in the design and development of entire space systems, including subcomponents.
  • Highly knowledgeable in multiple space operations and space control-related fields, including orbitology, navigation, sensor employment, communications, optimization, and command and control.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Master's Degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • TS/SCI Eligibility

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the design and development of entire space systems, including subcomponents.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Air Force, Space Force, and/or Space Systems Command
  • PhD-level/terminal degree
