Senior Software Engineer

About This Role

Altamira Technologies is seeking Senior Software Engineers to join their Space Systems engineering team. The role involves developing complex software solutions with a strong foundation in object-oriented software development within LINUX or UNIX environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex software solutions in a Java environment
• Design and develop APIs in Java, Go, or Rust
• Develop serverless and/or containerized software
• Perform automated testing and utilize CI/CD methodologies
• Work within Agile development teams using continuous integration
• Perform orbit propagation / orbit determination
• Apply linear algebra for accessibility checks including dot products, vectors, and matrices
• Utilize geospatial concepts like reference frames, coordinate systems, and Azimuth/Elevation
• Work with database technologies like MongoDB or Postgres

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
• Experience in Java and/or C++ development for high-performance systems
• Experience developing complex software in a Java environment
• Typescript, Spring Boot, React or Vue
• NoSQL databases
• API design and development in Java, Go, or Rust (Java preferred)
• Experience with serverless and/or containerized software development
• Automated testing experience
• CI/CD experience
• Experience with Agile development teams and continuous integration methodology
• Experience performing orbit propagation / orbit determination
• Familiarity with linear algebra for accessibility checks
• Experience with geospatial concepts (Reference frames, ECEF, ECI, Coordinate Systems, Azimuth/Elevation, Latitude/Longitude, Right Ascension and Declination)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM focused discipline
• 8-12 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 4-8 years with a Master's degree

Nice to Have

• Java software experience
• Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
• Full stack development with cloud deployment experience
• Cloud experience (EC2, S3, Security Group)
• Scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
• DevSecOps tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Git etc.)
• Automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Chef
• Database knowledge and familiarity (e.g., MongoDB, Postgres)
