About This Role

This role will develop advanced route optimization plans for Grainger's KeepStock inventory solution, minimizing costs while meeting customer service levels. The analyst will translate operational constraints into optimization frameworks and partner with various teams to align models with business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced route optimization plans for KeepStock solutions
  • Provide functional expertise and guidance for daily execution of route plans
  • Translate operational constraints (capacity, time windows, service levels, labor rules, geography) into mathematically sound optimization frameworks
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Product, and Finance teams to align optimization models with business goals
  • Evaluate trade-offs between cost, speed, service quality, and network resiliency using scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis
  • Build simulation and forecasting models to test routing strategies under varying demand and network conditions
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover routing inefficiencies and optimization opportunities
  • Build and validate advanced analytical and statistical models including forecasting, optimization, and simulation (e.g., linear programming, integer programming)
  • Participate in/lead discussions with representatives to adapt the planning system to accommodate business unit needs
  • Work with data using R, Python, Julia, or Gurobi
  • Deploy models and solutions using Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Apache Airflow

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Statistics or related field
  • 5+ years' experience in related field
  • Passion for using languages to work with large-scale data (e.g. SQL, R. Python)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Statistics or related field
  • 5+ years' experience in related field, supply chain experience highly preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Supply chain experience
