About This Role

This role involves performing molecular virology experiments to understand HIV latency and evaluate host immune responses and therapeutic strategies for controlling the HIV reservoir. The individual will design and execute experiments, analyze results, and contribute to manuscript preparation in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, perform and analyze molecular virology experiments, including sequencing, cloning, and infectivity assays.
  • Perform cell culture based assays to assess virus phenotype.
  • Process biospecimens for virus and nucleic acid.
  • Analyze, synthesize, generate figures and communicate results of experiment.
  • Supervise students, technicians.
  • Assist in ordering, lab management, and regulatory compliance issues.

Requirements

  • Experience in molecular virology
  • Experience with PCR, sequence analysis, cloning, infectivity and entry assays, cell culture based techniques

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy
  • 5 to 7 years of postdoctoral experience; several years post-graduation with PhD in molecular virology.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with viruses and BSL II agents
  • Prior publications and presentations in biomedical science
  • Experience processing biospecimens, including blood and tissues
  • Experience working with viruses in cell culture
  • Willingness to supervise graduate students and post-doctoral students
