Conduct research on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models, performing drug treatments, behavioral tests, and molecular analysis. This role involves developing hypotheses, refining experimental pipelines, and contributing to scientific publications and grant preparation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models
- Perform drug treatment and behavioral test to mice
- Develop hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it
- Perform standardized protocol collecting mouse specimens, preparing for histology and molecular/biochemical analysis
- Perform stereotactic surgery
- Execute complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures
- Perform primary cell culture, histology, and imaging of mouse nervous system tissue
- Manage transgenic mouse colony and perform small animal surgical and behavioral procedures
- Identify and implement experimental and analytical pipeline improvements and refinements
- Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation by providing figures, methods, and technical expertise
- Mentor junior lab members and promote a collaborative, high-performance lab culture
- Design research protocols, including developing procedures for data collection, verification, and management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or related science
- 2+ years of experience in research, basic science, or clinical trials research
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking, prioritization and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willingness and ability to work with research animals
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area
- Minimum of two years of applicable experience in research, basic science or a clinical setting particularly clinical trials research
