About This Role

Negotiate and acquire real estate rights for Duke Energy's Transmission system, utilizing advanced strategies for various land interests. Collaborate with landowners, attorneys, and public officials to secure land rights for projects.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with property owners to achieve equitable and fair settlements for acquired rights
  • Develop interpersonal relationships and function as part of a project team
  • Perform research on basic title issues and execute limited title searches
  • Manage various tasks and prioritize assignments to accomplish objectives
  • Develop project scopes of work, solicit proposals, and oversee vendor performance for real estate services
  • Maintain project files and ensure appropriate documentation of all transaction aspects
  • Ensure timely and proper accounting for payments related to transaction settlements

Requirements

  • Ability to negotiate with property owners
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Basic legal and transactional experience including title research
  • Ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Team, and real estate transaction tools (incl. GIS)
  • State Driver's License
  • Notary Certificate (within 6 months of hire)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Real Estate, or Other Related Degree
  • 4+ years related work experience with a Bachelor's Degree; or 6+ years with an Associate Degree; or 8+ years with High School/GED

Nice to Have

  • Real Estate license (NC or SC preferred)
  • Survey, paralegal, land development or engineering training/knowledge
  • Experience in a public utility industry
  • Cell tower lease negotiations experience
  • Experience in linear right of way acquisition
  • Formal project management training
  • Environmental awareness (due diligence, public requirements)
  • Real estate professional designation (IRWA, Appraisal Institute, CoreNet, CCIM)
