About This Role

The Lead Engineering Technologist will serve as a full-time controls systems owner at Marshall Steam Station, providing technical expertise and leadership for complex problem resolution. This role involves direct support to plant operations and maintenance, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical recommendations for assigned plant systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Ensure accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Strive to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities across various groups.
  • Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to fellow Engineers and Engineering Technologists.

Requirements

  • Associate's in Engineering Technology and minimum 8 years related experience OR HS Diploma/GED and 10 years of related experience

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology or HS Diploma / GED
  • Minimum 8 years related experience with an Associate's degree, or 10 years with a HS Diploma/GED.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting generating facilities (coal, natural gas, simple cycle)
  • Experience in various DCS Platforms such as Emerson Ovation, Siemens T3000
  • Experience with PLCs
  • Experience with various communication protocols such as MODBUS, TCP/IP, serial
  • Experience with data links/interface devices such as MODBUS, PLCs, RTAC, TCP/IP
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Windows Servers
  • Understanding of NERC Cyber requirements
  • Knowledge of various instrumentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation malfunctions
  • Ability to review and implement controls logic changes
  • Ability to tune control loops
  • Understanding of network management, database management
  • Experience with datalink development and maintenance
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and using plant Process & Instrument Diagrams
  • Understanding of station processes
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
