DCC Operator I

About This Role

This role is responsible for reviewing and analyzing outage information, dispatching field resources for restoration efforts, and meticulously capturing accurate outage data. The position involves working in a 24-hour operational environment on a rotational shift within Duke Energy's Distribution Control Center.

Responsibilities

• Manage outage dispatching and direct field resources for feeder-level and below outages, and assist with substation outages under supervision.
• Review and troubleshoot outage information, providing fault locations and directing restoration efforts.
• Maintain accurate outage information in Outage Management System (OMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS).
• Authorize, record, and model various tags (Hot Line, Clearance, Do Not Operate, Information) within OMS and DMS.
• Direct and model switching activities to ensure an accurate distribution system model for optimization.
• Monitor DSCADA and DMS systems, including remote operation of circuit breakers, reclosers, and regulators, and responding to alarms.
• Assist in directing restoration for large outages and aid in developing and executing emergency switching orders.

Requirements

• High-school Diploma/GED
• Passing score on the System Operator/Power Dispatching (SOPD) test

Qualifications

• High-school Diploma/GED

• Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
• Demonstrated computer and technical aptitude
• Knowledge of distribution systems, equipment, and operations
