This Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for IT infrastructure within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. The role involves designing technical solutions, executing network upgrades, and ensuring compliance with all requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design innovative network solutions as part of the ECP process
- Collaborate with the project execution team to develop around 800 ECPs manually, providing technical expertise and creating detailed network designs
- Conduct thorough analyses of existing network architectures and propose modifications or upgrades to enhance performance, reliability, and security
- Engage in transport network modernization and optimization initiatives
- Assist in managing network-related projects from conception to closeout, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with all technical and security requirements
- Serve as technical liaison between the project team, customers, and government representatives
- Deliver high-quality network designs and technical solutions for ECPs and contribute to project documentation such as Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) and Circuit Installation Plans (CIPs)
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- 2+ years as senior or lead engineer in planning, designing, and building software-defined networks
- 3+ years DoD environment
- Outstanding mathematics and IT abilities
- Experience configuring and installing various network devices and services
- Experience monitoring network performance and resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Knowledge of current and emergent network design principles and protocols
- Experience with network virtualization technologies
- Experience with multi-tenant network architectures
- Familiarity with a wide variety of network routing and switching equipment devices from multiple vendors
- Scripting languages and coding for network threshold events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Engineering or Equivalent
- 2+ years as senior or lead engineer in planning, designing, and building software-defined networks; 3+ years in a DoD environment
