Senior Material Handler

About This Role

The Senior Material Handler is responsible for providing warehouse services, accurately handling customer products and materials using various equipment, and ensuring efficient and safe operations. This role involves loading, unloading, staging, storage, and operating specialized machinery.

Responsibilities

• Accurately locate and load customer product onto/from pallets, trays, racks and shelves using motorized equipment like forklift trucks.
• Operate special equipment such as a turret clamp, slip sheet equipment, and RF unit.
• Unload, move, stack, and stage customer products and materials by hand and using power equipment, maintaining appropriate records.
• Daily inspect and make adjustments to tow-motor vehicles, reporting any defective equipment to a supervisor.
• Complete specialized order processing tasks like stenciling, slip-sheeting, shrink wrapping, labeling, and consolidating.
• Assist in building and grounds maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, safe, and orderly facility.
• Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by the supervisor and assist in physical inventories.
• Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model and 5S Lean methodology for operational efficiency and facility maintenance.

Requirements

• Forklift Certification
• Ability to operate forklift (sit down and stand up), tow motor, motorized and non-motorized pallet jack, clamp, reach, and slip sheet.
• Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.
• Light data entry skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and interpret documents.
• Basic math skills.
• Attention to detail and continuous mental and visual attention.
• Team Player attitude and professional communication skills.

Qualifications

• Preferred two (2) years forklift/tow motor experience required.
