Senior AV Design Engineer

About This Role

This role involves leading and overseeing the full lifecycle of complex Faith & Performance AV projects, from sales concept and design development to implementation support. The Senior Design Engineer acts as a technical authority, ensuring client and system requirements are met while mentoring other design engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and oversight through the project life cycle from sales concept to design development, construction drawings to implementation support
• Determine and execute client and system requirements in collaboration with F&P SME teams
• Mentor other design engineers on the project team
• Vet products and make detailed equipment decisions, acting as final sign-off on Bill of Materials prior to purchasing
• Recommend direction on scope changes and programming and commissioning activities
• Approve drawing packages and supervise the work of other design engineers
• Lead complex engagements, working directly with Account Executives, clients, and project teams to develop specifications, designs, budgets, and timelines
• Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements
• Provide technical expertise for architecture, installation, and planning of live performance solutions
• Develop Faith and Performance project estimates, Bill of Materials, Bid Response submissions, and project agreements
• Test, commission, and configure subsystems during project deployment
• Develop detailed design documentation strategy based on established engineering standard practices
• Generate functional system descriptions, complete block wiring diagrams, rack elevations, custom plates, or cabling assemblies
• Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients and projects
• Create Sketchup Models to communicate concepts to clients and for design deliverables
• Maintain expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, industry trade shows, seminars, and educational forums

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional live audio or video production experience as end user
• Mastery of production system technologies with demonstrated specialization in concert audio, broadcast video, and/or stage lighting
• Ability to understand, synthesize and create AV system designs
• Understanding of TCP/IP routing, QoS, VLANs and Wireless Access Points
• Proficient in MS Office 365 and Apple Pages
• Proficient in MS Excel and similar quoting tools (D-Tools, Jetbuilt, etc.)
• Thorough understanding of the construction process, installation, integration, architectural and construction drawings, and specifications

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 7+ years of professional live audio or video production experience as end user in relevant field

• Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast technology, equipment, facilities, and production systems (UDH, HDR video, SMPTE 2110 IP)
