The Design Engineer is a key member of the project team, supporting Faith & Performance projects from concept to implementation. This role involves translating client needs into technical designs and documentation, collaborating with subject matter experts, and producing accurate drawings and bills of materials.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to complex engagements with Account Executives, clients, and project teams to develop specifications, designs, budgets, and timelines.
- Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements, providing technical expertise for live performance solutions.
- Develop Faith and Performance project estimates, Bill of Materials (BOM), Bid Response submissions, and project agreements.
- Create Sketchup Models to communicate concepts to clients and use as a basis for design deliverables.
- Interact with clients and contribute to P&L performance.
- Assist in developing long-lasting client partnerships alongside Sales Engineers.
- Maintain industry expertise through trade publications, shows, seminars, and educational forums.
- Attend manufacturer trainings and continue online education.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional live audio or video production experience
- Good understanding of production system technologies with specialization in concert audio, broadcast video, and/or stage lighting
- Ability to understand, synthesize and create AV system designs
- Understanding of TCP/IP routing, QoS, VLANs and Wireless Access Points
- Proficient in MS Office 365 and Apple Pages
- Proficient in MS Excel and similar quoting tools (D-Tools, Jetbuilt, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of the construction process, installation and integration, architectural and construction drawings and specifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 4+ years of professional live audio or video production experience as an end user in a relevant field

- Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast technology, equipment, facilities, and production systems (high-definition, UHD, HDR video systems)
- Detail-oriented, independent, self-starter
- Exceptional time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concisely
- High level of problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills
