About This Role

This role will define risk management policies for American Express portfolios, focusing on credit risk controls. The Senior Analyst will leverage advanced quantitative expertise and data insights to mitigate credit risk throughout the customer lifecycle and support outstanding customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define risk management policies for American Express portfolios
  • Identify and mitigate credit risk throughout the customer lifecycle
  • Collaborate across Risk, Servicing, Decision Science, Legal, and Compliance functions
  • Leverage advanced quantitative expertise to drive disciplined risk decisions
  • Manage write-offs and evaluate risk trade-offs
  • Deliver insights that support outstanding customer experience and strong business performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant work experience, or master’s degree in a quantitative field (Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in handling large datasets using SQL, Python, or similar programming language
  • Demonstrated blend of analytical expertise, process improvement skills, and collaborative relationship-building
  • Ability to think strategically and apply quantitative methods and business acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant work experience, or master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience (or Master's degree)

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree (preferred)
  • Prior experience in credit or fraud risk management with a solid understanding of the credit lifecycle
  • Familiarity with regulatory and audit frameworks related to credit risk governance
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools
