Senior Accountant

About This Role

The Senior Accountant will focus on ensuring the accuracy of financial records and providing critical insights into operational spending for a food retail/manufacturing organization. This role drives the month-end close process and maintains balance sheet integrity.

Responsibilities

• Drive and assist in the month-end close process, ensuring all financial deadlines are met with high accuracy.
• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded correctly.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts, including Prepaid Expenses, Accrued Expenses, and Sales Tax Payable.
• Conduct Flux Analysis to evaluate month-over-month (MoM) swings in Operating Expenses (OPEX).
• Identify and investigate significant variances, providing clear explanations to leadership.
• Proactively identify areas in need of accruals to ensure the "matching principle" is strictly followed.
• Provide ad hoc assistance with bank reconciliations, ensuring cash positions are accurately reflected and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
• Support audit requests and contribute to special projects as the finance team scales.
