About This Role

This Senior Accountant role is responsible for general ledger accounting and reporting activities within the Retail Energy Industry, focusing on monthly and annual closing processes for assigned entities. The role involves preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly and annual closing processes for assigned entities
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting
  • Perform accounting, prepare monthly operating reports, and manage cash flow for the Supply group
  • Develop accounting processes and drive continuous improvement
  • Interface with external auditors and prepare financial schedules
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and long-term forecast

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5 years relevant accounting industry experience or 3 years public accounting experience
  • Accounting and financial reporting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficiency in SAP
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and self-motivation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5 years relevant accounting industry experience or 3 years public accounting experience

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in the retail energy sector
  • Desire to become CPA certified or in progress towards certification
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
