As a Senior Accountant/Team Lead, you will be the primary accounting partner for a client portfolio, delivering meticulous financial reporting, ensuring GAAP compliance, and providing insightful analysis. This role involves managing complex client engagements, leading a team of accounting professionals, and implementing process improvements for rapidly growing businesses.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary day-to-day accounting contact for a portfolio of clients, developing deep familiarity with each client’s financial operations and accounting data
- Be the go-to resource for questions about account balances, transactions, and variances, explaining details behind financial results with clarity and accuracy
- Support client decision-making by preparing accurate and timely financial information with guidance and oversight from a Controller
- Manage revenue cycle (order to cash), including invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition
- Oversee expense management process, including coding, approval workflows, and accruals
- Lead or support payroll processing, preparing payroll-related journal entries and reconciling payroll activity
- Execute the monthly close process: journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and drafting management reports and KPI summaries
- Maintain sound internal controls and process documentation
- Oversee compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements
- Prepare compliance-related reports and schedules such as sales tax and loan covenant calculations
- Lead and mentor a team of five accounting professionals, guiding best practices, career development, and performance management
Requirements
- Experience successfully revamping accounting processes and technology
- Strong with complex revenue recognition (eg: ASC 606 for subscription revenue)
- Deep knowledge of complex payroll
- Strong QuickBooks Online experience
- Strong understanding of KPIs with track record of using to make quick, informed decisions
- Exceptionally strong Google Sheet / Microsoft Excel GAAP-compliant financial modeling skills
- Firm grasp on sales tax liability management, including usage of management tool like Avalara
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making & project management skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager, plus 2+ years of audit work as an auditor in a CPA firm
Nice to Have
- Master’s in Accounting and/or CPA license
- Xero, Intacct & NetSuite experience
