Security Officer - Unarmed

About This Role

This Security Officer role serves and safeguards clients in an educational setting, monitoring and patrolling assigned areas to maintain a visible security presence. This position engages with students, staff, and visitors, providing strong customer service and accurately documenting activity and reporting concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, campus-specific policies, and emergency response activities
• Conduct regular and random foot patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, libraries, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter to deter unwanted activity and identify hazards or maintenance concerns
• Monitor access points and common areas, checking identification or access credentials as directed, and assist with visitor directions and general campus information
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and calls for assistance in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating with campus officials and/or local emergency services when needed
• Document patrol activity, incidents, and observations in written reports and logs, and communicate timely updates to site leadership

Requirements

• Ability to provide proof of a high school diploma or equivalent
• Be at least 21 years of age for unarmed roles (implied by 21+ for armed roles and previous 18 for unarmed)
• Ability to pass a background investigation
• Ability to pass a drug screen
