As a Security Officer at a hospital in Boston, MA, you will provide security services, monitor assigned areas, and respond to incidents to ensure the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors. This role contributes to a welcoming and secure environment within a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to staff, patients, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly, including de-escalation and requesting medical staff or emergency services when needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols throughout hospital buildings, corridors, parking areas, and perimeter points to identify unusual activity, hazards, and policy violations.
- Monitor entrances and controlled areas, assisting with access control, visitor direction, and maintaining orderly traffic flow.
- Observe and report unauthorized persons, suspicious behavior, and unsecured doors, taking appropriate actions consistent with post orders and location policies.
- Assist with patient and visitor issues such as lost property inquiries, wayfinding, and service requests while maintaining professional communication and discretion.
- Support staff with security-related concerns such as disruptive individuals, trespass notices, and restricted-area violations, escalating to supervision as required.
- Operate and monitor security-related systems such as CCTV, alarms, and radios, and respond to activations per site procedures.
- Complete detailed incident reports, patrol logs, and shift documentation in a timely manner.
- Participate in drills and respond to facility codes and emergency events as directed, including evacuation support, door control, and scene management until relieved.
Requirements
- 21+ years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years' experience in a healthcare/medical-related field.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years' service in a healthcare/medical-related field.
