Security Officer - Gate Screening

About This Role

Serve and safeguard clients in Lower Manhattan by managing entry points, screening visitors and packages, verifying credentials, and supporting access control procedures, while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors and staff by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a government location.
• Operate entrance screening posts, including verifying authorization for entry, directing foot traffic, and conducting bag and property inspections.
• Use screening equipment such as walk-through metal detectors and/or hand-held wands.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, notification of site contacts, and documenting actions taken.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, including interior and/or exterior checks and reporting maintenance or security-related concerns.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of security-related experience
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent
• 21 or more years of age (for armed roles)
• 18 or more years of age (for unarmed roles)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent
• 2 or more years of security-related experience

Nice to Have

• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds
• Customer service experience
