The Secretary is responsible for general typing and clerical work of average difficulty, supporting the Department of Human Services, Child Support Services Division. This role involves preparing various materials, communicating with customers, gathering information, and performing administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of materials including correspondence, memoranda, abstracts, spreadsheets, various reports, and other items.
- Review materials for spelling, grammar, and make suggestions for improvements.
- Communicate with customers through phone, email, and/or in-person to provide assistance and direction regarding policies, procedures, and agency information.
- Gather information from various sources such as files, the internet, and databases for meetings, interviews, presentations, and other administrative tasks.
- Perform various administrative tasks including creating documents, filing, auditing documentation, monitoring inventory, maintaining calendars, and disseminating information.
- Inspect office equipment to ensure proper working condition.
Requirements
- Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school OR qualifying full-time secretarial or office clerical experience.
- Ability to complete a criminal history disclosure form.
- Agreement to release criminal history records.
- Ability to supply a fingerprint sample for a TBI based criminal history records check.
- Submission to a review of status on the Department of Health’s vulnerable persons registry.
Qualifications
- Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
- Qualifying full-time secretarial or office clerical experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
