Seafood Supervisor

About This Role

Supervise and ensure the smooth operation of the Seafood Department, maintaining product quality, managing inventory, and providing exceptional customer service. You will also guide and train junior team members to achieve optimal departmental performance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality control during receiving and manage inventory and product quality, implementing FIFO concepts and maintaining full product display.
• Execute procedures for handling expired products and effectively manage shrinkage to minimize loss.
• Deliver exceptional customer service with a welcoming smile, greeting and assisting customers enthusiastically, friendly, and courteously.
• Assist customers in product selection and offer recommendations as required to enhance their shopping experience.
• Address customer complaints promptly, fostering positive relationships through attentive service and genuine engagement.
• Provide guidance and supervision to junior team members, offer feedback on staff performance, and assist in staff training and development within the department.
• Lead by example, demonstrating proficiency in all assigned duties and setting a standard for excellence.
• Prepare various seafood products for sales activities, including catching, gutting, descaling, cutting, washing, packing, labeling, and displaying them in coolers.
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and upkeep of work tools to ensure a hygienic and organized environment.
• Familiarize oneself with the location of various seafood items and stay informed about departmental promotions to better assist customers.
• Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.

Requirements

• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, regularly move and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Not allergic to handling seafood products.
• Ability to work in low temperature environment (0-4 °C), freezing temperature (-18°C), and wet environment regularly.
• Basic computer skills in MS Office.
• Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment and ability to interpret product labels.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety protocols.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
