SCA Analytic Linguist (Spanish) with Security Clearance

About This Role

This role involves providing critical Spanish linguistic support for federal law enforcement investigations, including live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation. The successful candidate will ensure accurate communication and assist in legal proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Monitor live foreign language communications and provide immediate verbal summaries, followed by written summaries in English
• Transcribe audio/video and written communications to and from source language to English
• Interpret consecutively or simultaneously to and from source language to English
• Validate and quality control other translations and transcriptions for accuracy
• Provide concise and accurate synopses of oral or written communications
• Assist law enforcement officers in preparing evidence and investigation summaries for trials
• Serve as a 'fact' witness in federal or state court when subpoenaed to testify
• Maintain regular communication with the program manager regarding availability
• Perform other duties as assigned by the customer or Program Manager

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or older
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
• Be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Residents with legal work status
• One year of translation experience in Spanish
• Demonstrated proficiency in English and Spanish (listening, speaking, reading, writing)
• Strong oral communication skills to effectively communicate with law enforcement officials
• Ability to understand Spanish slang and colloquial expressions and translate them accurately
• Native fluency in Spanish
• Excellent command of English to produce clear and concise written outputs
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute (WPM)
• Familiarity with various media storage (cassettes, videos, digital media)
• Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of translation experience in the required language (Spanish)

• Experience as a linguist supporting defense, intelligence, or law enforcement agencies
• Federal law enforcement clearance
• Flexibility to support assignments on short notice
• Availability for multiple shifts, including weekends
• Familiarity with Jatom Systems Incorporated (JSI) VoiceBox Intercept System
• Familiarity with Pen-Link Lincoln Intercept System
