About This Role

The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads a team of associates to deliver exceptional customer service, manages daily tasks, oversees performance, and ensures department coverage. This role involves both customer-facing and non-customer-facing activities, emphasizing sales and store safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resources and tools to support associates in delivering excellent customer service
  • Assist with down stocking and area recovery, providing input into merchandising decisions
  • Monitor store power equipment use and coach employees on safe behaviors and lifting techniques
  • Coach and train associates, delegate tasks, and follow-up on daily activities
  • Manage team performance and ensure adequate department coverage
  • Conduct customer-facing activities such as greeting customers, identifying solutions, and closing sales
  • Perform non-customer-facing activities like down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery
  • Conduct safety walks, report hazards, and understand safety and lifting directions
  • Communicate best practices to the team to inspire customer-focused behavior and goal attainment
  • Supervise associates in other departments as needed, requiring broad product knowledge and cross-departmental engagement

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment
  • 1 year of experience in customer service
  • Experience providing direction or supervision to teams
  • Experience supporting or participating in the process of training, mentoring and developing associates
  • Experience working cross-functionally
  • Experience Using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment. 1 year of experience in customer service. 1 year of experience supporting unique needs of Pro customers (for Pro Department Supervisor).

  • 3 years of retail customer service experience
  • 3 years of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers (Pro Department Supervisor)
  • Experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility
  • Experience working in the home improvement retail sector
  • Experience working in a fast paced, dynamic retail environment
  • Experience in key carrying role with manager-on-duty responsibilities
  • Experience using store computer systems (e.g., Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client)
