Lead and enable a team of associates to deliver exceptional customer experience in a retail store, focusing on paint department operations. This role involves coaching, training, performance management, and ensuring adequate department coverage.
Responsibilities
- Provide resources and tools to support associates in delivering customer service
- Assist with down stocking and area recovery
- Provide input into merchandising decisions
- Monitor use of store power equipment and coach employees on safe behaviors
- Lead and enable a team to deliver the best possible customer experience
- Coach and train associates, delegate tasks, and follow-up on daily activities
- Manage performance and ensure adequate department coverage
- Engage in customer-facing activities like greeting customers and closing sales
- Perform non-customer-facing activities such as inventory management and area recovery
- Conduct safety walks and report hazards to ensure store safety
- Communicate best practices for meeting sales and service objectives to the team
- Supervise associates in other departments as needed
- Communicate upward to management regarding concerns, issues, praises, and morale
- Occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty (MOD)
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment
- 1 year of experience in customer service
- Experience providing direction or supervision to teams
- Experience supporting or participating in the process of training, mentoring and developing associates
- Experience working cross-functionally
- Experience Using Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment. 1 year of experience in customer service. 1 year of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers (for Pro Department Supervisor). Experience providing direction or supervision to teams. Experience supporting or participating in the process of training, mentoring and developing associates. Experience working cross-functionally. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice to Have
- 3 years of retail customer service experience
- 3 years of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers (Pro Department Supervisor)
- Experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility
- Experience working in the home improvement retail sector
- Experience working in a fast paced, dynamic retail environment
- Experience in key carrying role with manager-on-duty responsibilities
- Experience using store computer systems (including but not limited to: Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client, etc.)
