About This Role

Supervise a retail sales floor department, focusing on customer service, store operations, and associate development. Ensure product availability, merchandising standards, and a safe shopping environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resources and tools to support associates in delivering excellent customer service
  • Assist with down stocking and area recovery, and provide input into merchandising decisions
  • Monitor use of store power equipment and coach employees on safe behaviors and lifting techniques
  • Lead and enable a team of associates to deliver the best possible customer experience
  • Coach and train associates, delegate tasks, and manage performance
  • Ensure adequate department coverage and conduct customer-facing activities like greeting customers and closing sales
  • Perform non-customer-facing activities such as inventory management
  • Conduct safety walks, report hazards, and ensure understanding of safety procedures
  • Communicate best practices to the team to inspire customer-focused behavior and goal attainment
  • Supervise associates in other departments as needed and communicate issues and praises to management

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment
  • 1 year of experience in customer service
  • Experience providing direction or supervision to teams
  • Experience supporting or participating in the process of training, mentoring and developing associates
  • Experience working cross-functionally
  • Experience Using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment; 1 year in customer service

Nice to Have

  • 3 years of retail customer service experience
  • Experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility
  • Experience working in the home improvement retail sector
  • Experience working in a fast paced, dynamic retail environment
  • Experience in key carrying role with manager-on-duty responsibilities
  • Experience using store computer systems (Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client, etc.)
