The RN Supervisor, Team Leader assumes a management position with both clinical and administrative responsibilities for their team. This role serves as a key liaison between the Director of Patient Care Services, clinical staff, patients, and the community. The Team Leader ensures adherence to policies, regulations, and quality standards while participating in staff hiring, training, and supervision.
Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and enforce hospice policies and procedures
- Enforce compliance with local, State, and Federal laws and regulations
- Serve as a resource and support system to staff in problem-solving and determining appropriate interventions
- Investigate problems and take corrective action
- Demonstrate positive leadership skill through effective communication and personnel selection, development, and motivation
- Collaborate with the Director of Patient Care Services in making decisions regarding hiring, retention, discipline, counseling, or termination of team employees
- Conduct competency, skill evaluations, and annual reviews of all team members
- Provide and maintain a safe working environment
- Assist the Director of Patient Care Services in program planning and development
- Ensure continuity of care for assigned patients
- Serve as a role model for nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team
- Adhere to budget requirements regarding labor, pharmacy, DME, and medical supply costs
Requirements
- Current California Registered Nursing license
- Minimum one year of health care management experience
- Demonstrated skill in administrative performance including oral and written communication, staff supervision, managing documentation, and service coordination
- Ability to provide leadership to professional personnel
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of hospice care, treatment and services
- Sympathetic attitude toward caring for hospice patients
- Positive communication skills in interacting with hospice team members
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
Qualifications
- Current California Registered Nursing license, BSN preferred
- Minimum of one-year experience in health care management. Hospice/Home Health Leadership Experience Preferred.
