About This Role

This Registered Nurse Staff 2 position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients and their families in a safe environment. The role functions as a competent nurse, providing effective leadership and direction to the nursing care team, and ensuring patient comfort, safety, and personal care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients and their families in a safe environment
  • Function as a Competent nurse (Benner, Novice to Expert Nursing Theory) within the competency checklist of assigned unit
  • Accountable for effective leadership and direction to the nursing care team ensuring patients' comfort, safety and personal care
  • Perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations
  • Employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures
  • Participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include wearing a respirator

Requirements

  • California Registered Nurse License
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through AHA
  • Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
  • Ability to pass required clinical competencies, including demonstrating EKG rhythms by exam

Qualifications

  • Education required to qualify for license as a registered nurse. B.S.N. preferred.
  • Clinical experience enabling applicant to pass required clinical competencies, including demonstrating EKG rhythms by exam, within probationary period. Must have 6 months acute care experience within the last two years to qualify as an RN II.

  • Minimum 1 year critical care/telemetry experience for Cardiac Cath Lab
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certificate through AHA for Surgery & Emergency Department
