About This Role

This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients and their families in a safe environment, functioning as an Advance Beginner nurse within the competency checklist of the assigned unit, specifically in the Cath Lab. The focus is on ensuring patient comfort, safety, and personal care.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessment on assigned patients, utilizing information from various sources.
• Identify patient and family knowledge levels, understanding illness, potential barriers, and discharge planning needs.
• Develop individualized, comprehensive, and documented plans of care with realistic outcome criteria.
• Implement patient care, demonstrating competency in safe nursing care for the patient population.
• Administer medication safely according to policy and include ongoing patient education.
• Recognize, report, and correct unsafe practices, demonstrating primary concern for infection control and patient safety.
• Evaluate patient response to nursing care and medical regimen, monitoring and reporting changes promptly.
• Document patient care concisely and completely according to unit standards.
• Communicate pertinent findings to appropriate health personnel using professional and respectful oral communication.
• Contribute to the administrative function of the nursing unit and practice within legal responsibilities.

Requirements

• Less than 6 months acute care experience or academic clinical experience
• Current California Registered Nurse License
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA)
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through AHA
• Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Qualifications

• Education required to qualify for license as a registered nurse. B.S.N. preferred.
• Less than 6 months acute care experience, academic clinical experience must enable passing required clinical competencies.
