About This Role

Lead patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Ochsner Baptist by applying the nursing process, delegating effectively, and ensuring quality patient outcomes while adhering to professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice.
  • Effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members.
  • Assume accountability for quality patient outcomes.
  • Exhibit sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions.
  • Maintain involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and the department’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate professional responsibility and accountability for practice and support the company's philosophy of nursing.
  • Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family, and other groups or disciplines.
  • Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
  • Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • None required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Certification In Clinical Specialty Area
