RN - Med Surg

About This Role

Provide comprehensive patient care as a Registered Nurse in a Med Surg setting at OSS Orthopedic Hospital. Utilize the Nursing Process to deliver care sensitive to patients' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients
• Verify and implement physician/other licensed independent practitioners’ orders
• Administer medications according to OSS standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Initiate appropriate emergency procedures and administer life-support drugs/treatment under physician direction
• Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other caregivers
• Manage patient assignments effectively
• Coordinate/facilitate patient/family education, participate in Joint/Spine class teaching
• Document accurately pertinent assessments, interventions, and outcomes for patients
• Accurately charge for all billable services in conjunction with corresponding documentation
• Maintain skills through yearly competency testing

Requirements

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure
• CPR certification
• Ability to achieve ACLS certification within one year
• Knowledge in principles of growth and development over the patient's life span
• Strong computer skills
• Professional and effective communication skills

Qualifications

• Graduate of School of Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or health related field preferred.
