Respiratory Therapist

About This Role

This Respiratory Therapist role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care, including patient assessment, treatment planning, intervention, education, and evaluation within the scope of licensure. The position focuses on monitoring patient response to therapies, making recommendations, and performing all necessary respiratory care procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze data, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Perform treatments and therapies according to physician orders, explain goals to patients, and modify treatment procedures based on patient response.
• Set up and maintain different modes of therapy and recommend methods to physicians to achieve therapeutic goals.
• Maintain proper documentation, patient medical charting, and recordkeeping, adhering to established policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Provide patient education on cardiopulmonary diseases/disorders and associated treatment options, instructing patients and caregivers on equipment usage.
• Set up and maintain respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
• Serve as a preceptor to new team members and/or students.
• Respond to cardio-pulmonary resuscitations and actively participate as clinically indicated.

Requirements

• Current Respiratory Care License in the state they are working
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed
• BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)
• Entry level, 6 months Respiratory Therapy experience in a general care area (preferred)

Nice to Have

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• Previous working experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting
• 6 months Respiratory Therapy experience in a general care area
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training
