About This Role

The Resident Assistant (RA) at Atherton Place provides compassionate care to personal care residents by assisting with activities of daily living and medication administration, ensuring their well-being and maintaining a protective oversight. This role involves close interaction with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medication assistance/administration according to State regulations, including storing and dispensing medications at prescribed times
  • Properly document all medication assistance
  • Communicate with doctors' offices and pharmacies to ensure proper and safe medication assistance
  • Observe and document any side effects of medications
  • Maintain watchful oversight of residents and respond to and document resident issues (e.g., falls, medical emergencies)
  • Observe and interact with residents daily, keeping families/sponsors informed of any issues
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Maintain awareness of each resident’s normal appearance and intervene if their health appears in jeopardy
  • Maintain resident apartments in a sanitary and clutter-free condition
  • Assist with resident transfers (e.g., chair to bed, wheelchair to commode) and laundry
  • Assist in the dining room with serving meals
  • Assist residents with various needs such as apartment cleanliness, thermostat, TV, light bulbs, toilets, and phone calls
  • Participate in the formation of resident care plans and evaluation of cognitive status
  • Ensure all required annual education is met and maintain resident files

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • CNA certification in the state of Georgia
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (Windows based)
  • Current skills in medication assistance/administration or willingness to learn

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent with CNA certification in the state of Georgia required
  • Minimum 2 years experience preferred in a similar setting with older adults, and experience with medication assistance/administration preferred.
